Oh, the joys of being a teen seeking work

Well, I've been looking for a job on and off since July, and so far, NO luck! Thankfully, I've still got my baby sitting client but still, I am really concerned about how hard it is for a responsible student to find a job! And I'm not just living in a little town, either. There are hundreds of jobs out there, and yet it seems I'll have to cut off my arms just to get one! Is anyone else out there facing this problem, or is it just me? I do a lot of volunteer work, and my resumé is pretty good, and yet whatever I try, how many little white sheets I hand out and applications I fill out, I stay work-less. We have a youth employment center here in my town, but it ends a half-hour after school finishes, and for some reason it's locked up during the weekends. What is going on?

I think there should be an easier way to find employment, no matter what age you are. I went out for an interview the other day and didn't get the basic courtesy of a call-back. To employers out there, this is extremely unproffesional. I know you may not have the time, but teens are very underestimated in their usefullness. Who is ruining our public image so much that we can't even get work at a fast-food place? I am so stressed out wondering how I'm gonna pay for the stuff I need, not to mention with Christmas coming up... But I am not giving in yet. There might still be hope...
