For those artistic types.. Or people who just like to draw =D
For a long time (probably close to 4 years) I have been "Oekakiing" on the Web. What is Oekaki, you ask? Well, it is an online program where you can draw on a canvas with a palette and different tools, (better than MSpaint, more primitive than PaintShopPro) and then post them on the web for other people to look at and comment on. Think of it as a forum, but with pictures!
Usually the technology is pretty easy to get used to- Many sites have rules and regulations, but they are fairly easy to follow. Some places also have different rooms for different levels.. Such as Amateur, Intermediate, etc... I have a lot of fun on these sites- I have been on 3, because sometimes sites get old and have to shut down. Right now I am currently looking for a new place, because the current one is down...
I have never come across an Oekaki site that isn't free. I warn you, though, that many Oekaki artists are blunt when it comes to crits, and will tut-tut you if they think you have not put enough effort into your work. But I assure you they only want to see you improve, and most people are very welcoming to new members. If you decide to check out some Oekaki sites, maybe not to join, but to look at the great pictures, just be careful of a place called Fearsome, it has some very adult content.
